Join Advocacy members at 11 am Sunday, September 22, to honor former Mankato resident and Wacipi committee member, Dave Brave Heart. Dave was dedicated to all efforts of reconciliation and education for Mankato, including the recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, and helping establish a land acknowledgment for the City of Mankato. The memorial feast is part of the 52nd Annual Traditional Mahkato Wacipi, honoring the 38 Dakota. It takes place at Dakota Wokisuye Makoce (Land of Memories Park). Youth Mission Saturday with Holy Grounds is Saturday, September 21st! This is a great way for youth to put their faith into action. Please arrive by 8:30 am to help with setup and serve breakfast with Holy Grounds. We will clean up at 10 and then head out to the WOW Zone for Laser Tag and Lunch. This group will review the Kristin Hannah historical novel,“The Women”, Monday September 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the 2nd floor Library. The book tells the sory of Frances “Frankie” McGrath, a young nurse serving in the US Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War whose idealism and courage under fire will come to define an era.
