How to Serve

It seems Methodists love committees, task forces, commissions, and work areas.  What ever you prefer to call a group of folks who coordinate an activity, we have many.

Not everyone is up for long-term service.  We publicize openings for three year committee assignments, as well as one-time event needs.

Right now we have these needs:

  • Habitat for Humanity needs a helping hand and Centenary is there one day each summer.  This requires tool-savvy workers, and food-savvy lunch providers!  Contact Bob Peterson 387-1047.
  • A clean-up crew to pick our stretch of road ditch, two miles along Highway 169 between here and St. Peter.  Call Ryan Scholl 387-1556
  • Our funeral ministry provides cakes and workers for lunches.  If you are willing to be on a list for short-notice contact, call Phyllis at 931-3148
  • Our family ministry provides meals for families with a newborn.  If you are willing to be on a list for short-notice contact, call Jo at 387-4074.
  • Sunday AM hospitality and tech support.

·                 Sunday coffee and rolls: call Drew or Dawn at 387-2408

·                 Welcome Center staffing: call Jean at 345-6016

·                 Greeters at North and South entrances: call Bev at 388-5346

  • Audio and projection support: call Mike at 327-1938

Weekly routine jobs for just that right person:

  • Wednesday mornings: collate and mail Centenarians
  • Anytime weekly: prepare the worship area for worship – sharpen pencils, replace envelopes, straighten Hymnals, organize nametags, etc.

  •

Do you have an hour you can give us each week?  Please consider making one hour part of your service to God through Centenary.

In an hour, you could accomplish one of the following, or maybe you’d rather call us with a project you’d like to take up.

    ·     Dust chancel furniture, straighten chairs between services

    ·         Adopt an area in the kitchen to tidy up each week

    ·         Volunteer to set up chairs in the configuration needed on a certain day or event

    ·         Shopping!  Sometimes we need someone to visit several stores to find a certain item; or we have things to pick up each week for Wednesday night suppers

    ·         Stuff envelopes for mailings, seal, stamp

    ·         Adopt a storage closet – you could help straighten up for easy access next time a volunteers needs to find something

    ·         Adopt the recycling rack: turn a mess into a convenient drop-off spot

    ·         Adopt the Harvest for the Hungry shelf: deliver each week’s donations to Echo’s building on South Front.

    ·         Adopt the name tag rack: alphabetize, set out and close each Sunday
